In the early 1900's, South Haven was known as the "Catskills of the Midwest" and was a resort town.
Today, South Haven is a major regional tourist draw because of it's scenic beaches, the harbor, marinas and recreational waterports. It is also the home to the Van Buren State Park, the Van Buren Trail State Park and the Kal-Haven Trail - a popular destination for snowmobilers and bicyclists.
