HERITAGE HILL HISTORIC DISTRICT GENERAL INFORMATION |

Heritage Hill is Grand Rapids' first residential neighborhood and in 1973, became the city's first Historic District. Its boundaries are defined by Crescent St to the north, Union St to the East, Pleasant St to the south and Lafayette St to the West.
Homes in Heritage Hill are made up of classical revival and victorian style homes. There are also homes designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, America's most famous architect. There are 1300 Homes in Heritage Hill which represent over 60 architectural styles and date back to 1848. These were the homes of the teachers, judges, legislators and lumber barons who shaped the city's future.
The Heritage Hill Historic District is adjacent to downtown Grand Rapids. Heritage Hill Association was formed in 1968 and it purpose is to provide neighbors with a way to build and preserve this historic community where people can live and work in a secure, stable enviornment. |

VOIGT HOUSE: Located at 115 College Ave SE, the Voigt House was built in 1895 by local businessman, Carl Voigt and was home to 2 generations of the Voigt family. This fantastic home in Heritage Hill is an adaptation of a French Chateau and is now a property of the Public Museum. Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for seniors and students.

MEYER MAY HOME: Located at 450 Madison Ave. SE, The Meyer May home in Heritage Hill was designed by the famous architect, Frank Lloyd Wright in 1908. This fabulous home is a beautiful example of Wright's "Prairie" style of architecture. It was restored by Steelcase and opened to the public in 1987. The Meyer May home is open to the public Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am to 2pm and Sundays from 1-5pm. Admission is free.

ROSA PARKS CIRCLE: Rosa Parks Circle is a cool addition to downtown Grand Rapids. From late fall to early spring it is used as a skating rink. The parks center features a sculptural amphitheatre with a stage used during the summer to host festivals and concerts etc.
DOG PARK: Located at Hillcrest Park at the corner of Lyon and Benjamin, this is the city's only dog park.
AH-NAB-AWEN Park: Originally the site of a Native American village and now the host of many community festivals including the July 4th fireworks celebration, this 6.5 acre park is the home of the The Gerald R Ford Museum, which was a recent addition to the site.
