East Grand Rapids is located on the east side of Grand Rapids in Kent County, Michigan. It was first settled in the early 1830s by the Reed Family from New York State and is one of the oldest suburbs in Kent County.
An affluent suberb, the primary geography is residential homes and there is a business district containing all the essential services, a selection of specialty stores and boutiques. Spectrum Health's East Campus is a world-class hospital and can also be found within the borders.
One of East Grand Rapids' popular destinations is Reed's Lake and Gaslight Vilage. Reed's lake is home to the Grand Rapids Yacht Club which offers sailing lessons for young and old, excellent fishing and John Collins Park.
East Grand Rapids is known for its excellent schools, well-kept executive homes and unparalleled municipal services. You can enjoy pleasant walks along mature, tree-lined streets, take the family for a picnic at the various parks or stroll through Gaslight Village and take in the sights. REEDS LAKE: One of the main attractions of East Grand Rapids is Reeds Lake, a true centerpiece for the community. With a land area of 283 Acres and a 52ft depth, walking trails 4.2 miles around, this all-sports lake offers great fishing and boating. Enjoy quiet mornings walking along the shore or an afternoon of waterskiing with family. Reeds Lake and the surrounding parks, woods and trails draw people from miles around to enjoy the outdoor landscape.
Reeds Lake is also the home of the Grand Rapids Yacht Club.

Encompassing 40 acres and home to many activities hosted by the Parks and Recreation dept.
JOHN COLLINS PARK: (650 Lakeside Dr.)
John Collins park is located between the GR Yacht Club and Rose's Restaurant. Situated on 2.7 acres and features a boat launch accessing Reeds Lake.
WATERFRONT/GILLMORE NATURE AREA: (522 Lakeside Dr)
Reeds Lake trail meanders through this lovely woodlands and wetland area. The Waterfront/Gilmore area features plenty of opportunities to birdwatch, fish or just take a stroll along the scenic trails.

THE LASALLE BANK REEDS LAKE RUN: The Reeds Lake run is fun for the whole family with activities for everyone. Compete in a 10k Run, 5k Run and Walk and kid's races followed with a post race party. Restrooms and showers are available at East Grand Rapids High School on race day.
Kids races take place on the High School track and are non-competitive races designed to teach children the sport of running and provide them a positive experience. There are 4 age groups from 5 - 12 and the races are separated by age group. Each finisher receives a ribbon as they pass the finish line chute.
